Nancy Reyes will be presenting FOUR half-day seminars on Monday, October 26 & Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Withrow Elementary School in Hugo, MN. Nancy is a Professional Dog Trainer, a Business Owner and an International Speaker with 30 years’ experience in animal behavior, dog sport coaching and dog training.

Strategic Handling for NW3 & Elite Teams
Monday, October 26, 2020, 8:30am-12:30pm
We will cover key concepts for competing in NW3 and Elite, such as assisting the dog in making the jump to the higher levels in nose work while maintaining drive and speed. We will work on covering the search area, knowing when the dog is done searching and much more. Strategies for Elite searches will be discussed. Please Note: Open to those trialing at the NW3 & Elite levels

Transitioning from NW3 to Elite
Monday, October 26, 2020, 1:30pm-5:30pm
You just got your elite or you just need one more NW3 ... Now what? Where do you go from here? How does your training need to change or does it? This workshop will discuss what new or additional skills are needed to make the transition from NW3 to Elite. How to work on those skills without demotivating or slow down your dog. How to add complexity to your searches while keeping your dog motivated. Please Note: Open to those trialing at the NW3 & Elite levels

Training Progression for Elevated Hides
Tuesday, October 27, 2020, 8:30am-12:30pm
Look, up in the sky, it's a bird, it's a plane, it's an elevated hide! Elevated hides can be challenging at any level. How do you start teaching elevated hides, what are the different types of elevated hides and how to progress your training for this particular skill … elevated hides? This and much more will be covered. Please Note: This session is open to NW2 up to elite teams.

The Nose Work Dance
Tuesday, October 27, 2020, 1:30pm-5:30pm

Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers — you and your K9 partner. We will focus on how your body position and pressure affects your dog's nose work performance. Experimenting with differences in working on or off leash as the search environment allows, and how to move to help improve your team work (the dance) in nose work. Please Note: This session is for teams that are competing at the NW2 through Elite level.


Location & Covid-19

Withrow Elementary has a variety of large indoor spaces which allow for physical spacing for these seminars - maintaining a minimum of 6’ of distance between participants. There is no option to mutually consent to be closer together than 6’. Please be respectful that your proximity or request for proximity may make others uncomfortable. All attendees will be required to bring and wear face masks.

Depending on which areas are utilized for the seminar you may be able to crate dogs inside, otherwise dogs will be crated in your car. More information will be provided as we get closer to the event.


More About Nancy Reyes

Nancy owns For Your K9 in Chicago, Il and she is a sought after International Speaker & Presenter. She is also a NACSW Certifying Official, Nose Work trial host, seminar host, and a Mental Management Certified Instructor.

Nancy’s training philosophy is focused on developing and strengthening the bond between people and their dogs. She believes that good communication and mutual respect are key for the success of any relationship. Her approach is based on her mentor and teacher, Suzanne Clothier’s Relationship Centered Training.

Nancy Reyes specializes in both helping dog owners to understand general dog behavior as well as problem behaviors such as aggression and fear-based issues and helping dog sport enthusiasts be competitive in their respective dog sports. Currently, she is working with nose work competitors. She travels domestically and internationally teaching seminars on nose work, Mental Management for dog sports and animal behavior.

She recently achieved the Elite Champion Title in K9 Nose Work with her GSD, Cha Cha and is training two new future nose work competitors, Jive, a black lab and Tango, a GSD. She has rescued 7 dogs of her own and fostered, assessed, and rehabilitated countless dogs.

Nancy is passionate about people and dogs. Her other loves include cooking and being a life long learner.


REGISTRATION

Registration will open on Monday, October 12, 2020 at 10:00 AM Central Time (CT) for both the Random Draw AND Confirmed Spots. Enrollment will be limited  to a single dog per handler per session to maximize learning. A wait list will be maintained for all seminars. In the event there are working spots remaining, we will open up the sessions to lower titled dogs who are looking forward to their next title. Auditors are welcome from any level for all sessions.

There will be 4 Seminars available with 8 working spots & 3 audit spots per session.

There will be TWO REGISTRATION OPTIONS for Working Spots**

  1. RANDOM DRAW SPOTS | Register for the Wait Lists

  2. CONFIRMED SPOTS | SOLD OUT!

**This split registration system provides the opportunity for both participants who want the assurance of a working spot and also for the participants who may not be able to get to register right away when registration opens up.

AUDITORS are welcome to audit one or all four sessions. Due to COVID-19; attendance will be limited to 3 Auditors per Seminar and registration will be accepted in the order received. | Register to Audit


COST

Random Draw Working Spot: $120 per dog and handler team per half day session
Confirmed Working Spot: $160 per dog and handler team per half day session
Audit Spot: limited to 3 spots/seminar
$50 for 1 seminar... or ... $85 for both seminars in a day ... or ... $160 for ALL seminars for BOTH days

Please NOTE: Confirmed Spots will be required to pay at the time of registration. If you are awarded a spot from the Random Draw, payment will be required within 24 hours of receiving an email notification to secure your spot. Auditor registration will be accepted in the order received.

Registration Entry and Closing

  • Registration will open on Monday, October 12, 2020 at 10:00 AM Central Time (CT) for both the Random Draw AND Confirmed Spots

  • The Random Draw Spots will be awarded by random draw of all entries received between 10:00 AM, October 12, 2020 and 10:00 AM, October 13, 2020.

  • Confirmed spots will be first received and are limited to 4 spots per session. An automated confirmation email from The K9 Nose website will be sent confirming your spot and payment.

  • Confirmation & Wait List emails for the Random Draw will be sent out by 11pm on October 13, 2020.

  • Registration will close when all spots are filled after the draw period or 9:00 PM Central Time (CT) on October 23, 2020.

  • A wait list will be maintained from all random draw registrations received and any additional registrations after the draw.

  • Auditors may not see every team search depending on the size of the room/areas being searched. All day auditors will be on their own for lunch.

  • The K9 Nose reserves the right to cancel the seminar if minimum registration numbers are not met

  • After all registrations have been received during the draw period, if the sessions are not full, registrations will continue to be accepted in the order they are received through the closing date or when all spots are fill.


Cancellation Policy & Refunds

  • For cancellation of a working spot or an audit spot on or before 5pm central time Oct. 21, 2020 – Full refund minus $25 processing fee IF your spot can be filled from the wait list.

  • For cancellation of a working spot or an audit spot after 5pm central time Oct. 21, 2020 – no refunds will be issued.

  • All cancellations must be emailed to shopk9nose@gmail.com

  • This cancellation and refund policy applies to any participant that must withdraw for any reason including but not limited to injury, illness, emergency, and personal or work-related reasons.

  • No part of the fee will be refunded if the seminar cannot take place or be completed by reason of fire, civil disturbances, an Act of God, public emergency, or any other cause beyond the control of the event organizers.
