Seminars

Nose Work Games to Sharpen Your Skills
Monday, April 19, 2021, 8:30am-12:30pm
Experience scent work with a twist. Every time we work a dog, we have the opportunity to learn and grow, but searching with the same old rules and in the same old routines can make it hard to see those opportunities. In this seminar, we will use a variety of games designed to bring out your creative problem-solving side, to connect to your dog on a deeper level, and to get you having fun while learning! Please Note: Open to those trialing at the NW3 & Elite levels

Transitioning from NW2 to NW3!
Monday, April 19, 2021, 1:30pm-5:30pm
If you've competed at the NW2 level and are hoping to be prepared for NW3, this seminar will help you to understand the key fundamentals that mark the readiness of a dog and handler for a trial level that can be quite challenging for many teams, but very rewarding for those teams who bring the right attitude and skill set. Please Note: Open to those having competed at the NW2 level

More About Jeff McMahon

Jeff+%26+Muriel.jpg

Jeff’s resume includes having been one of the early certified K9 Nose Work instructor (CNWI), a competitor with his NW3 (x2) titled dog, Muriel, and the editor of the early National Association of Canine Scent Work (NACSW) member newsletter, along with being a faculty member of the NACSW and a certifying official for competition events. He also was a part of the faculty for the early National K9 Nose Work Training Camps. Jeff's goals are to make the Nose Work activity fun and successful for each dog and to help each handler learn to read and understand their dog better, resulting in a bonded and skilled search team. He has extensive experience as both a competitor and coach and was one of the early students working with the three founders of the sport.

As a scent work coach, Jeff is here to learn about you and your dog and to guide you through the challenging and rewarding experience of building new skills, deepening your bond with your dog, and performing as a team beyond what you thought possible. Jeff has been in the scent work world since 2008 and has enjoyed many experiences as a competitor and coach – which he will happily share upon request. Coach Jeff believes that through the pursuit of excellence in scent work, we better the lives of our dogs, become better humans, and have a howlin’ good time!
